1. WHAT COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES ARE
1.1 A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device and can read back on a later visit. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called first-party cookies; those set by another organisation whose code runs on that site are called third-party cookies.
1.2 Similar technologies include browser local storage and session storage, which hold information on your device in the same way but are not sent back to a server with every request. Where this notice refers to cookies, it means cookies and those similar technologies together, unless we say otherwise.
1.3 A cookie is described as a session cookie if it is deleted when you close your browser, and a persistent cookie if it remains until it expires or you delete it.
2. WHAT WE USE, AND WHAT WE DO NOT
2.1 The Platform uses a small number of cookies, all of which are either strictly necessary for it to work or functional — that is, they remember a preference you have expressed so the Platform behaves consistently between visits. They are listed in section 3.
2.2 We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use cookies to track you across other websites. We do not use Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager. We do not sell or share information collected by cookies for advertising purposes.
2.3 Because the Platform sets no advertising or analytics cookies, the notice shown when you first sign in tells you that cookies are in use and records that you have seen it. It is not a consent gate, and declining is not offered, because the cookies described in section 3 are the ones the Platform needs in order to function. If we ever introduce cookies that require your consent, we will ask for it separately and give you a way to refuse.
3. COOKIES WE SET ON THE PLATFORM
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
yc_cookie_consent | Records that you have seen the cookie notice, so it is not shown again on every page. | Functional | 1 year |
sidebar_state | Remembers whether you left the navigation sidebar expanded or collapsed. | Functional | 7 days |
__yc_impersonation_admin | Set only when an authorised member of our team is accessing an account for support purposes, so that the session is recorded as theirs. Never set during ordinary use. | Strictly necessary | On sign-out or expiry |
Session cookies set by Clerk Inc. (United States), our authentication provider — including __session and __client_uat | Keep you signed in, and protect the sign-in process against misuse. Without them you could not stay signed in between pages. | Strictly necessary | Session, or as set by the provider |
3.1 The names and number of the authentication cookies in the last row are determined by our authentication provider and may change when it updates its software. Their purpose does not change.
4. OTHER INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
4.1 The Platform stores the following in your browser's local storage. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to us with each request.
| Key | Purpose | Retained |
|---|---|---|
yourcalls_user_type_cache | Remembers what kind of account you are signed in with, so the correct dashboard loads without re-checking on every page. | 24 hours |
onboarding_bar_hidden | Remembers that you dismissed the onboarding progress bar. | Until cleared |
5. THIRD PARTIES WHOSE CODE LOADS ON THE PLATFORM
5.1 The Platform loads an integrations software development kit from Zapier Inc. (United States) from that provider's content delivery network on every page, so that customers can build and manage integrations from within the Platform. Because the file is served by that provider, it will observe that a page has been loaded, together with your IP address and browser information. We do not use it to place advertising cookies.
5.2 Our hosting and error-monitoring providers process technical information such as IP addresses in order to serve pages and to record faults. That processing is described in our Privacy Notice rather than here, because it does not rely on cookies.
6. THE CHAT ASSISTANT ON OUR CUSTOMERS' WEBSITES
6.1 Our customers can embed a YourCalls chat assistant on their own websites. That assistant writes a persistent identifier to the visitor's browser local storage so that a returning visitor's conversation can be recognised.
6.2 That identifier is written on our customer's website, not ours. Obtaining any consent required for it under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, and displaying the customer's own cookie and privacy information, is the responsibility of the business operating that website. Our customers' obligations in this respect are set out in our Terms and Conditions and our Data Processing Addendum.
7. OUR WEBSITE
7.1 Our website uses Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service provided by Vercel Inc. (United States), to count page views and measure traffic. It is cookieless: it sets no cookies and stores no identifier on your device. You can decline it through the banner on our website.
7.2 The contact page on our website embeds Google's appointment scheduling product so that you can book a meeting with us. That embed is served by Google, which will receive your IP address and the details you enter when you book.
8. HOW TO MANAGE COOKIES
8.1 Every major browser lets you see the cookies stored on your device, delete them, and block them in future. Instructions are published by each browser vendor and are usually found under Settings, then Privacy.
8.2 Blocking the cookies in section 3 will prevent the Platform from working. You will not be able to stay signed in, and preferences such as the sidebar state will not be remembered.
8.3 Clearing your browser's local storage will remove the items in section 4. Nothing will be lost: they will be written again as you use the Platform.
9. UPDATES TO THIS COOKIES NOTICE
9.1 We may update this Cookies Notice from time to time, for example if we begin using a new technology or change provider. The version published at https://s4w.com/yourcalls/cookies applies. Where an update is material, we will bring it to your attention.
10. CONTACT US
10.1 If you have a question about this Cookies Notice, contact us at hello@yourcalls.ai, or write to Dial Square Consultancy Ltd, 131 Finsbury Pavement, London, England, EC2A 1NT, marked for the attention of the YourCalls data protection contact.
